Healthy Living Starts with Good Air Quality: How WatsoNova Approaches the Indoor Environment

Air Quality Control Begins During Construction

Dust, moisture and other substances released during construction can enter a building’s technical systems or damage the materials used. WatsoNova therefore includes a mandatory Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) management plan during construction.

An approach based on the SMACNA IAQ guidelines helps protect HVAC equipment from contamination and construction materials from moisture damage. This allows the building’s technical systems to operate efficiently over the long term while protecting future indoor spaces from contamination from the very beginning.

Materials with Low Emissions

Certain coatings, adhesives and construction materials can release volatile organic compounds, commonly known as VOCs, into the air. WatsoNova therefore places emphasis on materials that comply with strict emission limits or are classified as non-emitting.

Before the apartments are handed over, air quality will also be tested in randomly selected units by an accredited laboratory. The quality of the indoor environment will therefore be supported not only by the materials used, but also by subsequent verification.

Keeping Dirt at the Door

Seemingly small details can also contribute to better indoor air quality. Three-metre entrance cleaning systems will be installed at the main entrances to residential buildings and commercial units, helping to capture dust and dirt before they enter the interior.

A similar solution will also be used in the underground garages, in front of the entrances to the lift lobbies. This will help keep shared spaces cleaner and reduce the amount of dirt carried into the residential areas of the buildings.

Safe Ventilation of Underground Garages

The underground garages will be equipped with forced ventilation designed to maintain carbon monoxide concentrations at least 50% below the hygienic limit of 50 ppm. The system will also monitor nitrogen oxide levels and automatically increase ventilation when necessary.

The ventilation system is designed to prevent air from the garages from entering access corridors or cellar areas. This technical solution will contribute to a cleaner and more comfortable environment throughout the building.
